Keep an eye out for your furry friends if you’re a collector of kitchen magnets.
A curious hamster with an appetite for attraction found itself in a hilarious and slightly heartbreaking situation. According to a text message thread from a person named Kat on Twitter, a vet student discovered an odd ailment in a little girl’s hamster.

The little girl brought her hamster into the vet because it hadn’t moved from the side of its cage in days. When asked if anything had happened, the little girl told the student that the hamster had gotten out, but they discovered it hiding underneath their refrigerator.
After pulling the hamster from the cage, it acted totally fine. Then, they noticed that the hamster had something in its mouth. There, they found the hamster had been hiding a fridge magnet in its cheek, and it probably wasn’t hanging out on the side of the metal cage, but it was stuck, thanks to the magnet.
Twitter loved the adorably tragic tale of a snack gone wrong.
Terrified this hamster was going to end badly and now I am crying with a weird combo of relief and joy and something else I cant name.

I’m very glad that story had a happy ending. It could so easily have turned into a fatal attraction.

We’ve reached out to Kat for additional info and comments, but one Twitter user shared a very similar story in January of 2016, making us wonder if the tweet was stolen, or if hamsters have a tendency to eat magnets.
I’ve got a good hamster story for you all.

My sister is a vet nurse & a hamster came in with the following problem: “he’s stuck to the side of the cage”. She thought it was a joke on

the computer, but no, the owners carried the cage in & he was basically stuck to the side of the cage. She tried to lift him off & there was

definitely something odd going on, and LOW AND BEHOLD! the hamster had put one of those small circular magnetic discs in his cheek pouch.

In conclusion: be very careful about leaving your hamster cage next to the fridge if you are a fan of fridge magnets.

Did I copy a tweet from 1 ½ years ago or has more than one hamster in the history of the universe tried to eat a fridge magnet
